There are many individuals experiencing the same problem with this laptop. This is somewhat less than convenient and not what I would expect from a modern laptop. If I unplug the USB-C display adapter after successfully following this procedure, I'm not able to recover the display by plugging the adapter back in and need to reboot again from off in order to regain use of an external display. If I follow this scenario I'm able to consistently utilize various adapters for external displays. Unplug and plug-in the display adapter I want to use, make sure the external display is on, and then cold boot the machine. I'm only able to successfully utilize external displays if I completely shut down the laptop. #Yoga 920 bluetooth not working windows 10This is with the latest Lenovo provided bios & drivers, and Windows 10 home updates (fall creators). I've tried multiple adapters with external displays and, universally, I find that I an not able to make external displays work in a plug-n-play fashion. This creates real problems as this is a work machine for me and I need to be able to quickly change displays when meeting with clients, etc. Like many other owners of this laptop ( Yoga 920 USB C to HDMI not working - Lenovo Community ), I've found that driving an external display over the UBS-C is very challenging. The laptop is advertised as supporting DisplayPort Alternative Modes over USB-C. #Yoga 920 bluetooth not working softwareFortunately, the software allows you to reverse the roles – although it might only matter for power users, more than someone who’s using a notebook to just get their work done.Last month I bought a new Lenovo Yoga 920, which has an i7-8550U w/Intel 620 graphics and 2 USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports. That means that if you hit Alt + F4, you’re going to simply mute your mic. It might be worthy of note that the F1 – F12 keys have alternate functions that are made default thanks to the accompanying Lenovo software. The only thing I miss is a numpad, but what can you expect for such a small form-factor? On 13-inch and smaller notebooks, I have the tendency to typo a lott, but on this keyboard, I type naturally, and without worry. The keyboard on this notebook is one of the best I’ve personally used, feeling on par with what I’ve experienced with larger notebooks. And if you’re worried about loudness… you probably shouldn’t be. I tested with Reservoir Dogs and The Wire, and found the dialog to be very crisp and atmosphere quite detailed even with a lack of bass. These speakers offer room-filling sound that actually really impressed me. Certainly not on par with the nearly 100% accuracy I enjoy with my smartphone.īeyond all that, what’s not so obvious to spot around the notebook are the JBL speakers placed at the bottom (inside) of the hinge. To the right of the touchpad is the finger print reader, which in my experience works well, but there is the occasion (1/8 times, I’d say) where I have to tap it a couple of times to get a response (which I’m thinking is more on Windows Hello than this reader). That includes the quad-core 8th-gen Intel processor, offering eight threads to help get jobs done quicker. For a notebook half-an-inch thick, and weighing just three pounds, this one boasts some nice hardware. This Yoga 920 is 14-inches, although other sizes exist for other Yoga models. Just be warned that 4K means more GPU power draw, which in turn means reduced overall battery-life (10.8 hours vs. #Yoga 920 bluetooth not working 1080pLikewise, this notebook shipped with a 1080p panel, although a 4K panel can be opted for if you crave crispness. This particular sample comes equipped with the base 256GB of NVMe storage, but it can be configured up to 1TB. You’d guess right if you thought Wacom was behind this technology. Well, aside from needing an optional pen, of course (Lenovo’s Active Pen 2 is the official choice). The screen has 4096 levels of sensitivity, so if you want to draw or paint on your Yoga, nothing is stopping you. More than that, it’s designed to be used by those who plan to do more than just draw circles (like me). On the topic of flexibility, since this is a 2-in-1, the screen is of course touchable. So I used one of the original 50K Pots that looked and checked to be good to replace the volume control Pot with, after cleaning it with some good electronic cleaner. The new Fender Pots have center detentions which is not really suitable for the volume control. You can see the rust and corrosion all over it. My guess is that whatever was spilled into the amp got onto the 50K volume Pot. They are the only ones that I could find that matched the original Pots. The new 50K Pots are made by or for Fender amplifiers, Part# 0038655000. The new Audio Amplifier will handle 18W where the original was only rated for 14W. Here I have the new Hi-Fi Audio Amplifier Part# TDA2030A and the new 50K potentiometers installed onto the board. It is probably still good but since they are not too expensive, the Amp will be more dependable with a new Audio Amplifier installed. It’s hard to know how much it has been used. Here is the original Audio Amplifier Part# TDA2030that I’ll replace with a newer one that can handle more power. I decided to use one of them for the volume. Three of the 50K Pot’s checked to be in pretty good shape. You can see the two 25V, 2200♟ filter capacitors. The above photo is the last image I took before I removed the transformer and board out of the housing. I’m going to operate on the premise that the transformer is good. The transformer has a built-in thermal fuse that is good. It seemed a little weak using my Blue Ring tester, but that isn’t very unusual. The magnet is strong and I see nothing wrong with the speaker. Everything else about the speaker seems fine. Hopefully it will be ok and perform well. My Brymen BM869s is reading the resistance of the Peavey speaker at 2.91Ω. Hopefully the speaker will perform well in the little Crate Amp. #Crate amplifier repair parts manualI do know that the owner’s manual says that if you plug an external speaker into the external speaker plug on the front of the Amp next to the power switch, the impedance of the external speaker must be 4Ω or greater. But everything that I have seen indicates that the Amp should have had a custom Crate 8 inch 30W speaker inside it. I do not know if it is the original speaker or one that someone else has put into the Amp. I disconnected the speaker wires and carefully fed them up through the hole in the speaker cabinet so I could remove the power supply housing and begin the repair. You can see the “+” and “-“, markings on the speaker better later in image# 24. We know that because they hooked the wires up to the speaker backwards. Someone has had the speaker out before it was handed to me. The previous two photos show the tags on the back of the power supply housing for those that are interested. Looking at the Amp from the back we can see that we have to remove the speaker wires from the speaker and pull them up through the hole in the speaker cabinet before we can remove the power supply housing and look at everything. I figured that maybe there was something wrong with the volume potentiometer (Pot). The Amp is designed for a bass guitar, but my son uses it for his electronic drum set that he uses for practice. So I brought it home to see what I could do. He said that it works, but the sound is low and it will not get loud. My son owns this Crate BX-15 30W Amplifier and was hoping that I could repair it for him. |
